10 Things I love About Selling Real Estate.

In my many years of selling real estate I have had to pick myself up and dust my self off more times than I care to recall. I had occasion where I got the wind knocked out of my sales, too dancing on top of the tables because I was able to meet and exceed my goals in selling real estate. When I have moments of doubt and wonder "why" I am in this industry.  I go to my list.

  1. Versatility --- without a doubt when you are an active agent selling real estate -no way can you be bored ---- your options are limitless.
  2. Your working hours are dictated by you and for you. How many careers can say that?
  3. You learn just how much stamina you have when it comes to going the extra mile.
  4. People and more people, I have not met two couples or an individual that are alike.
  5. Everyday is different no matter how much you plan to stay on schedule. Rejoice in the fact that you are not dealing with the hum drum.
  6. Financially you set the bar as to how much income you want to generate.
  7. You are CEO to psycho-therapist to handy-person; the number of hats that we wear can be fascinating.
  8.  In this career ---- you fire yourself, and if a broker does ask you to leave for whatever reason there are at least half dozen or so that will hire you.
  9. No two transactions are alike.
  10. The good news is that the saying "this to shall pass" is so true.

I keep reminding myself that this is one career that has more positives than negatives.

Great post Ladies.  Yes real estate is the best job in the world.  Can also be the best paying job and the worst paying job in the world.  Best of luck to you both.

Great post!  I just posted one like that a few days ago with my top ten as well!  I think yours is a little more articulate than mine.

I've been in real estate for 43 years as a Realtor, landscaper, builder, investor/flipper, roofer, bricklayer, drywaller, heating and cooling technician, pool/spa builder, septic system builder, and for the last seven years a home inspector in San Diego County and throughout Southern California. The one thing I can say is that every job is different, even when the Clients and the Realtors happen to be the same. I've also found that home inspector is the only career I've had where I can actually use all of my vast experience in everything. Makes for great rapport with Clients and Realtors.

Lorraine and Loretta, I really enjoyed your post and never complained about my working conditions except for when I was working REO. Ever since I quit REO I appreciate the business so much more now...
