Home Staging is the latest Real Estate craze sweeping the nation... but how would home staging have been for professional home stagers in the years past?

Well...your about to find out...enter the Home Staging Time Machine: 2008... 1980...1960...1940...1920... @#*X@#!..............

What's this, I think we have been transported to a different time...

Ooops..sorry we went a little too far! Hop back on and we'll travel to another year in time! Which Era would you prefer to be staging in? Let's travel to ...1900

If you were a professional home stager back in the 1900's... you might be wearing something similar to this when you met with your clients to discuss the benefits of home staging.

You would go to your clients house for the initial consultation and take your brownie along of course to take photographs of the interior areas. Your camera only cost you $1.00 in 1900... Hard to believe!

Your inventory would have to be ordered by catalog. Here is a sample of lamps that you very well may have ordered for your inventory. I think I like the convenience we have now a days, of shopping at the local lighting stores.

A typical parlor might have looked similar to this. This one is not staged of course!

Some items you may have in your inventory in 1900.

How would you transport your inventory to your staging project? Most likely your mode of transportation would be similar to this. Or course you'll need your horse to pull you along.

JUST FOR FUN:

On weekends and in your spare time you may have joined a women's activist group to volunteer your time for your community! Your a strong willed individual, that's why your a home stager!

Home staging in the 1900's would have been interesting...I'm not so sure I would select this era as my personal favorite though!

Michelle - Times have indeed changed, haven't they? I was thinking about this the other day with regard to homes from the 60's and 70's (and even from the 90's). What was trendy and classy then would be laughed at today.

Michelle ~ This was a really creative post! I enjoyed it! Loved the pictures you found. I agree though, I don't think I would have wanted to be around in this time. My personality would have the townfolk saying that "Mr. Passarette has no control over Mrs. Passarette!".

I love this fun post...BUT why did you make us get back on the TM (Time Machine) when we stopped at the Flintstones??? I loved them! Okay, IF I must get back on the TM, then I'll stop off at the early 1900's. I'm not a foo foo girl, but I would wear one of those tight waisted dresses just to stop me from eating so much.

Staging, though? NO CAN DO. I'll leave that to YOU, the pro!

What fun! I do have to correct Jason Crouch, however, classic style and trendiness are not synonymous. Well designed anything will hold its own over time. Trendy is ephemeral and won't last long, for what's in fashion today will not necessarily be so tomorrow.

Very Creative Michelle. Another example of how Stager's are always thinking and dreaming how they would market a property. We just can't stop doing what is our passion. :)

Glad we are doing it today and not long ago.

Kimo is right. Good design is timeless. I have pieces of furniture that were designed in the 30's, 40's and 60"s that look as fitting today as they did then. Trends are for fun and updating your personal space.

Michelle F. -Thanks for commenting. I don't think I would have liked to have been a stager back in the 1900's either, not because I wouldn't have enjoyed the design challenges but rather the type of attire would have slowed me down to much! :)

I used to have a 1904 Sears Catalog in excellent condition and enjoyed looking through it. I sold it in 1993 and used the money to move to San Diego. Well, that's not the only money that helped me move, but it bought me many a gallon of gas, burgers at McDonald's, and nights in hotel room on that long drive from Houston north to Fargo west to Seattle and, finally, south to San Diego. Hey, I didn't know how to read maps then. LOL
