What makes Green Bay great? Many things to be sure, and another one of our 'community gems' is Literacy Green Bay. It is an organization that has been impacting the Green Bay area for more than 25 years. Founded in 1981 to assist Southeast Asian immigrants, Literacy Green Bay's mission is to help adults and families acquire reading and other skills needed to be fully functioning community members. Programs include: Adult Tutoring, Community Spanish Class, English Class, Family Literacy, & Child Tutoring. Volunteers have been a strong part of the organization throughout its history, and continue to do so today in the adult and child tutoring services.
Upcoming special events include the 6th Annual Steps to Make a Difference Walk on October 25, 2008 - 4 Mile walk on the UWGB Arboretum Trail.
