Beavers. Yes, they are rodents as are squirrels. They happen to be the largest rodent in the species and are second only to humans in their ability to change the environment.
The native Americans called the beaver the Sacred Center because they created an environment for all other creatures to thrive.
So how are we like beavers. Well if you have been to a buffet with me that is one answer, but we as Realtors are at the very center of a monetary system that depends upon us.
Ahead of us are our clients, but they are looking to us for guidance and investment advice that comes from our experiences of conducting hundreds of transaction for their every one, next to us is our family and co-workers who depend on us to provide, and behind us is a entire slew of support staff that we need to get our job done properly. People that we often overlook but they are there to help us and they are paid by the services that they conduct in assisting us. (Title, Mortgage, Home inspection, maintenance, landscaping, repair, etc...)
So here we are, Realtors and professionals sitting in the middle of this system that flows along everyday until one cog in the machine doesn't work. When that cog breaks or quits, we discard it. Often without a second glance. When it slows we move past it. But what about now. Are we the cog. When all of those support people are still working every day and we are all talking amongst ourselves and our "Friends" (translate into sphere of influence) about this dismal Real Estate market. We are the broken cog in many instances.
The mortgage rate is a dream rate. There are actually cases of ghosts haunting the mortgage companies looking for a good loan because this rate was unheard of 20 years ago. We have spoiled ourselves into thinking that this is all the fault of the Fed Chairman and the oil prices or insurance and Katrina. (while they all play a part, it is we who are in the center)
And pray tell, what do we do to fix this problem. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT. Find buyers who want to get a deal, find sellers with REAL EXPECTATIONS, find the flow of the river and build a DAM and create a center around yourself.
