Fall foliage in North GeorgiaTo everything there is a season, and
a time to every purpose under heaven
:

                                    Ecclesiastes 3:1

Fall has commenced its annual color display in North Georgia. It's always been my favorite time to take photographs. We have had a few years of drought so I am not sure how good the color will be this year, but I always like to get out and experience the change of the seasons.

These are some of my first Autumn shots for 2008. In the south, the leaf period can be very long because we rarely experience early hard freezes. I have taken foliage photos well into December. But you never know what nature has in store, so you must move quickly to get the best looks at good color.

I will be adding many more photos as time allows, and hope to describe a lot of the North Georgia Region. These photos were taken near Blairsville, a small town nestled in the mountains.

I can't wait for next week, when I'll be taking another trip in search of autumn glory!

Hi Richard.  I look forward to more pictures.  You ice fish?  Isn't that an excuse to get away from women and drink beer?

Thanks for writing,

Ken

Richard,

Nice capture of the various colors - a good assortment instead of just one color, which I often get. :)

The colors are just stunning!  We don't have a real autumn this far south, so I'll just live vicariously through the beautiful photos.

Richard-Those are spectacular pics. Look forward to more. I hope the leaves around here get colorful. Right now they aren't. Mostly yellowish and brown. Two blogs again I see. Must be something got your engine revved up. Keep up the momentum. You'll be like a snowball barreling down the mountain. snowball    Have a great evening-See ya on your next blog.

Oh, Richard!  You captured some stunning shots!  Falls is my favorite time, as well and the mountains of NC are gorgeous along the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Unfortunately, I don't think I'll get the chance to get up there this season - doesn't mean I can't capture some beauty locally, though.

Richard,

Beautiful pics.  Where did you take them?  For all the readers out there, the last week or so of October is generally considered peak color time.  Take a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway and see for yourself!

Lisa...

I have many "more intense" ones that I will post soon!

I was concerned because of the drought. Thanks for the kudos!

What a vivid sky in the second photo.  Really stands out to me!   Just as blue as the first pic, but the white clouds offer a lovely contrast.  I just love autumn photos.

Richard - I spent hundreds of hours trying to duplicate McGuinn's riffs. Got close, but not quite. Try duplicating 8 Miles High
