I've been watching our local boards' number of active agents for over a year. What I found is that there is about a four to one ratio. Meaning for every one agent coming in there are four going out. It is always sad to see someone not make it in business however, to a certain degree, I would guess that many of the agents that got in to the Real Estate profession thinking they can make a quick buck have found out that there is some serious work involved.
On the flip side, any agent who comes in now and is willing to do what it takes to make it in this market, mainly treat it like a profession, will gain a wealth of knowledge and a nice peice of market share that will set them up for the rest of their career.
More than ever, the real estate profession offers some of the highest paid hard work and the lowest paid easy work.
