Tip of the Day - When to water your garden?

Conserving water is the ecologically responsible thing to do these days.  But how can you conserve water when your beautiful New Orleans garden needs water? After all, it gets very hot here in NOLA during the summer.  The idea is to use the smallest amount of water to get the necessary effect.  The experts recommend watering your garden either in the evening or the morning.  I always figured that watering my garden when the plants need it most was the best time...but I was wrong! Basically, by watering in the evening or in the morning, less water evaporates so less water is needed.  So, cooler weather (I know, "cooler" is not a word typically used when describing New Orleans summer weather) allows the water to permeate the soil better and get to the parts of the plant that need water.
