Some companies require specific certifications?!!

I recently received an email from an asset manager recruiting agents for BPOs, however they require that I have a NVSI certification before I go into their system.  That certification costs $399.  I've been doing okay on my own without spending a lot of money.  I did spend a little money to get the NFSTI certification, but even they have been swallowed up by Paradigm which wants everyone to go through their extensive (and expensive) training system. Has any of you been asked for specific certifications to complete BPOs?  Does anyone know if this will become the norm?

Let's hope it is not the norm. BPOs do not pay a lot and to have to pay to go through an extensive training system would be undesirable.

I'm not up for shelling out more money for certs that may or may not be worth anything in 6 months. I understand the need to train, but $399+ for multiple companies adds up pretty quick.

My policy is not to pay to join sites and even though I might not be able to use some companies, I make enough to be comfortable.
