Plan For Your Holiday Events, Now!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Fran Rokicki Realty, LLC

To obtain the good room, the good date, the better time slot, start to make your plans for the holidays, now.  Decide if you will host an evening or daytime event.  Who will you invite?  Get your list out and check off the people who have given you referrals this year.  Include your vendors and family.  Once that list is populated, go back and look for the people who are new to your area.  The relocation families.  If they don't travel back to their former home, they would love to be included in your holiday festivities.  I try to host an event for fall and for Christmas.

This year my clients are all asking for a shopping excursion.  I will look into renting a bus to take us to the outlets in Connecticut for Christmas shopping.  We did this once with a bank and it was a great event.  We played games on the bus on our way to the destination.  They were all real estate and banking games!  Didn't know they even had them until I went on that trip!  It is amazing how much your clients will help you to produce and pull off these events.  I don't know what I would do without their help!

So, start calling the local clubhouses, restaurants and Santa Claus', to get your name on their list!  The earlier, the better.  I have found that my attendees seem to like the afternoons, on the weekends, the best.  We have tried evenings, but, it is not as popular.

Music?  Band or DJ, or find a client who is into the music.  My clients seem to be better than what I can find in the yellow pages!

Food?  Depending on where your event is, you can choose a meal from the menu or bring in your own caterer.  I would suggest a variety of foods.  With all of the special diets that people are on now, it can be tricky!

Invitations?  Online, evite.com is excellent.  They will track it for you.  Mail is more personal, especially for those who are still not online!

Decorations?  Easy enough!  Bring things from your home!  You will have to take them down in a few hours anyways.  Your home won't miss them for a day!  Remember, Go Green!

You may even consider the location being your home or your office.  It could save you monies, gas and time.

It's a Good Life!

In larger cities it isn't uncommon to book 1 year in advance.  I suspect this year will be more low key and spots will be more readily available.  Still, it's a good idea to start early so that you have a better chance of getting what you want. ~ Evelyn

WOW Fran! I L-O-V-E the shopping event idea. Talk about building relationships and having fun along the way! And using www.evite.com for any event is way cool (and convenient). Your Go Green message goes beyond the environmental straight to the bank! Thanks for sharing & Greetings from Paradise.
