About 6 weeks ago I started to write about the differences in U.S. real estate practices as compared to those of other countries. I am still convinced that many agents and investors outside of the U.S. don't grasp the differences and the financial consequences of doing real estate transactions here.
Then the financial market meltdown started and my focus has shifted. I will try to get back to the other parts of the international overview but for now I believe this to be more important.
Part 1 will focus on the turmoil going on internationally that is NOT getting almost any press coverage in the American media. The international community will dramatically change practically every aspect of the financial marketplace and liquidity will be GLOBAL! Any agent that thinks they can ignore what is going is doing a grave disservice to their clients (whether they are buyers or sellers).
Part 2 will concentrate on the extraordinary changes that consumers and our society are undergoing. Specifically I will examine how the groundbreaking work "The Age of Speed" by Vince Poscente relates to how realtors should be treating their clients but seem to ignore the warning signs. Utilizing data from the NAR's Home Buyers and Sellers Survey" I will show that "we" have not gotten it yet..but better soon.
Part 3 will examine how society has become "numbers" oriented. Even TV commercials are portraying us a "statistical geeks". Have realtors begun to present information differently, showing charts and graphs instead of just sheets of numbers? Are your presentations (to either buyers or sellers) in PowerPoint?
Part 4 will tackle how technology has changed our business...but some of the biggest changes are on their way. Have the majority of realtors adjusted to this new world and how well will they adapt to the next wave?
The Conclusion will draw everything together, update the latest information and hopefully provide a sounding board for real estate professionals to go forward with.
The future will be filled with change. Darwin's theory of evolution still applies"only the strongest will adapt and survive". Realtor beware!
