Well the news is talking about the "Market Ups and Downs" again. Every day when I turn on the TV, or look at the news on msn, I see bad news about the economy and the housing market. I think it is interesting to hear how the "Dow Plunged 500 points, but you don't hear Dow Ran up 500 points. I just heard that for the week, the stock market is up 4%. That statement was buried at the end of the big report that said MARKET UP AND DOWN. Everybody I talk to has this terrible picture of the housing market right now and a lot of what they think is just NOT TRUE.
At church on Sunday, someone asked me how the real estate market was doing and I proceeded to tell them how BUSY I was and how houses ARE selling, you just have to be the best looking house at the best price.
You should have seen the looks I was getting. TOTAL AMAZEMENT on the faces that were looking at me. Of course one person has a neighbor whose house has been on the market for almost a year. Six houses sold in that neighborhood last month - why do we think THAT house wasn't one of them???
Yes, things are not as easy as they were 3 years ago and the stock market news has really paralyzed a lot of folks, but we can be a ray of hope to people. People are looking for positive news and YOU can be that positive perspective in their life. When they are ready to buy a house, will they choose the realtor who was doom and gloom or the one had had a positive attitude and was successful when everyone else was down?
Do you think those people went away with a changed view of the housing market? Maybe so. What do you think they told their co-workers on Monday morning if the topic of the housing market came up? We need to spread the positive news. Look for the positive stories to tell. You may be the only ray of light in that person's day and they WILL remember you for it.
