Overlapping MLS Markets

In Ct we are dealing with overlapping MLS markets. There is CMLS, CTMLS, etc. In Southbury we are in New Haven County which is part of CTMLS but we border Newtown Ct which is part of CMLS. Some agents only belong to one MLS while others belong to both.A realtor has to learn 2 systems,2 sets of rules, and pay 2 fees. What is the solution?Some possible solutions being discussed are:

  - Reciprocal membership

  -Cooperative data sharing

  -Reorganize and consolidate

  -Nationwide data base

 

Does this problem occur in other states? What do you think the solution should be?
