Monday Morning - Unexpected Rewards/Gifts from Blogging

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with CELLing Realty CalBRE #01445865

Today is Monday.....yea yea I know many of you don't like Mondays, and  I read on Twitter that my friend Nannette Saunders isn't liking her Monday so far.  Ahh a normal person, that actually has a bad day every now and then :)  But on the flip side, I sent out a request for someone in Florida....and another friend Audrey June-Forshey called me with the name and number of a great resource down there.  She had already made a call....now how great is that?  So, my Monday has already started with some of the unexpected rewards from Blogging.

Graphic of a Gift....

Making Friends and Renewing Friendships  was a Post I wrote back in May of '07.

Re-reading it doesn't look like I have changed any of my thinking.  In fact I went to find a few old posts after a conversation on how we change after being on Active Rain for awhile.

I made the comment that the only thing about me that changed is I have better Graphics...thanks to Sally Cheeseman, and I learned how to do links thanks to TLW.

This is from the Making Friends Post in May:

I am amazed at the quality of the Active Rain Community, and have been following several people's posts; each time feeling like I made a new friend.  This community has brought me out of my small town USA into a larger arena of Professionals where I have learned many new tricks, tips, and stories.

This morning I came online again, and of course came here to see what was new.  I wanted to see who is working in my area, and noticed there were 88 Escrow Companies, so I clicked on the link and was shocked to see an old family friend. I hadn't seen him for years, and here he is on AR. This young man wanted to be a Police Officer growing up, and now owns his own Escrow Company in Lancaster, CA. Thanks everyone for the new friendships, and thanks Active Rain  for the old.......

Blog Divider made by Marti Garaughty- The Blog Artist

We all have our Favorite People that we like to read, and I know that out of all our members there are some things that stick in my mind, or some people that are just so nice that they have made an impression on me.  Absolutely without a doubt Sally has been the person that affected me the most, and this has been both through blogging and in real life.

"Working together, and supporting each other is the key in any relationship....." this is what Sally wrote on one of my Posts last year.....and for this whole year Sally has been a good friend to many of us here.  Sally's Contests helped me keep my sanity last year when I was on the brink of an Industry related Depression.  So many times last year I had to work at being positive, and looking for that ray of sunshine, but I always found it. We just have to give ourselves permission to be upset, down, depressed, or just plain in a bad mood...we have to remember that not all of us Blogging are "Happy People" 24/7 :)

When it Comes to Graphics, Blog Headers, "Cookies" only one name comes to mind and that is Marti Garaughty. Marti is the Founder of the Art of Marketing You Group. And when I think of Marti, a few of the people I see are Margaret Rome, Linda Scanlan, William Johnson, Brad Andersohn. Thanks to Marti and his Graphics I can easily identify them, and all of them are wonderful people.

Now these next 2 people I wrote about in a Post in July of 2007; because I needed the info, and wanted it, I found it.  Their Posts are timeless, and in my opinion "nobody but nobody" can write a Blog on Copyright Violations like Lenn Harley.

  • Missy Caulk-Her Post My Favorite Technology and Time Saving Tools was one of the ones that I remember the most.  It saved me a lot of frustration. Missy and the people that came to her post helped me solve my problems with anti virus and getting docs signed.
  • Lenn Harley-http://www.homefinders.com/ The best posts for copyright violations :)  Just click her name, or use the Search button and put in there copyright violations.  A Fantastic Broker that has given over and over to this community.......

Now to go along with Lenn's Post here is a site I bookmarked very early in my Blogging and Internet Activities ~This  link is for all of us that have had our pictures "copied' or stolen by someone else for their own use.  A good resource for all of us :)

Graphic given to me by Sally Cheeseman

Blogging Points are nice, but don't forget what's really important.  Active Rain is a community.....it is about all of us, the consumer, the client, the knowledge, and the people, the sharing and the caring.

these are the rewards, even when we hate Mondays :)

As a final Reward/Gift to all of you I would like to Introduce Sylvie Conde who wrote several Posts on Feeding the Hungry for FREE.  We can all make a difference click hereThe Hunger Site Click to Feed the Hungry for FREE. Several of us have decided to follow Sylvie's example, and if you see the Hunger Site Graphic look for something to click....even if you have done it once or twice, please click all these graphics you see.

OK, well hopefully as Monday is ending...I leave you with this....good mood or bad, our Virtual Friends will support us, and be there for us just as we are there for them.  Now everyone try to have a good week, it's a new one after-all :) :)

Hi Kathy,
I am getting my Monday gift on Tuesday but that's ok--my fault.  Friends think I'm crazy when I tell them about my AR friends whom I've never met or talked to but have a deep and real connection with.

Hi Kathy, thanks to my Google Alerts this post came up. I appreciate your mention and the C of marti's graphics is great. I downloaded them but haven't used them yet. Barely able to keep up on AR right now, too many subscribers so sorry I missed your Monday Morning Update yesterday. Have a great week, I have learned so much from AR, it would be hard to condense.

Kathy, you are so sweet.... you know I'm glad to have met you too.  If I never get anything more out of AR, I'll never forget it was AR that introduced me to you and Liz. :)
And I hope to meet you both - face to face - one day soon.

I don't have a 'life list', or rather, I didn't have a life list (you know ... things to do before you croak) ... but I started one this week, and item number 1 is to meet you and Liz...

Item number 2 is to be in Europe, on an ocean front cafe, sipping a latte, for my 50th birthday.
So let's hurry up, because the big one is approaching fast. :)

People are getting sick of my poverty stories and asking them to click... but if it makes them click, I don't care. :)   If this is what it takes to feed someone, I don't mind making people sick.

Neal- Why thank you for thinking of your online buddies while on vacation :)  Have fun.

Cynthia- I know what you mean....even my Grandkids know something about some of my "computer friends" as someone else called it recently :)  We're not crazy we're very lucky actually :)

Missy- Hi, hope all's well with you....and I love my Google Alerts :)

Scott- Thanks....there sure is a lot to learn, and the friends come  from the content :)

Sylvie- Well I hope when we meet that doesn't mean you're going to "croak soon." LOL :)  Hey where is Europe.....I love sitting at the little cafes over there beach or no beach :)

And as for your Poverty stories, yea most people don't like in your face, do this, social problem stuff.  But if given a choice most people will do the right thing.  Sometimes less is more :)  I think your Poverty Awareness is great.....

Kathy very nice job at giving credit to those that have helped you along the way. That is one of the many greta things about AR...most are willing to help without question.

Kathy - I'm just getting around to reading your blog and found this post to be a real gift to everyone who has embraced this community.  The comraderie and support that we receive I feel is priceless not to mention the wonderful friends and relationships we make because of it.

Donna-I think you just condensed everything quite nicely :)  AR offers great "camaraderie and support " very true.  Thanks for coming by and adding your thoughts....it's nice to know what others really think.

Kathy - I believe that you have to give before you can receive.  When I think of people who consistently give on AR you are one of the people at the top of the list.  I can always stop by your blog when I need to recharge my positive energy.  When you give it naturally follows that you will receive as well.  So with all of the positive energy that you have sent out it only makes sense that it will come back to you ten fold.  Couldn't happen to a better person!

Pam- Early on in my career I learned that when we give we receive.  Of course I give without expectation but somehow good comes out of it.  It's like a circle.....we give to one and someone else passes it along....so whenever we receive it isn't necessarily from the same person.  That's what's so beautiful about it, IMO :)  Thank you so much....see I did not expect those kind words, and yet they feel good just the same :)

Have a good day, and thank you for reading and commenting.  sometimes I just write and never know if it's useful at all, so thanks.

The bird post was one of my favorites. I was not at all surprised that Linda wrote about you! Good choice, for sure.
