Mmmm.  I wonder if this is in any way connected to the Ute River.  I went fishing there once some years ago.  Got run off the water and river by huge swarms of black flies that about chewed me to pieces.

Black flies on the river doesn't sound like Chipita to me. Maybe you were near some fish guts on the shore.

It is really a stunning little mountain community. But, if you are doing a search on the town it is spelled Chipita not Chipeta.
