It's surprizing to me how I wander around so oblivious to that simple thought. I am usually one of the countless numbers of "Undercover Agents" Perhaps it's from the decade and a half I spent in large buildings surrounded by barbed wire guarded by Marines that really would shoot. (First when enlisted in the Air Force, then as a Department of Defense contractor) But when I finally broke free of the world of secrets, I forgot to quit acting like my job was one!
After years of not telling people what I did... (really pretty boring... so don't bother asking...) I now find myself in the business of self promotion. With over 15 years in Real Estate I've gotten better at it, but every now and again I find myself back in my shell.
This morning was one of those times. I stopped by the local Starbucks, read the morning paper and as I was leaving a senior citizen stopped me. He noticed that I was wearing an Air Force shirt and struck up a conversation. He was crewman in WWII for P38 Mustangs. We had a nice chat. And to think I almost walked past him without a word.
My point is, that we work in an incredible business that by its own nature we have something in common with everyone. It really is easy to talk about real estate. We dont always have to be selling... but we certainly have alot to talk about.
