Fork in the road! What to do?

Some days are just not that productive. I'm stuck in my office with my truck in the shop. Seems I came to a fork in the road!

Fork in the road

Unfortunately; now its in my tire, and to make matters worse I found out if you own a Chevy and you don't drop your spare down a use it for a few years it gets stuck and you can't get it down. There is a safety device designed to keep your spare tire from falling out of your truck.

That safety device rusts shut and then you have to take a torch and a cutoff tool to it to get your tire out.

Fortunately the good people at Roberts Chevrolet in Raytown are going to replace the whole assembly for me. Good folks said that even though I was out of warranty they would honor it since I had never used the spare.

Seems this is a common thing in Chevy trucks. So if you have a Chevy truck, go out, drop the spare tire while you still can and spray some lithium grease on the hoist assembly. Or you may find yourself at a fork in the road and not being able to get your spare tire down to use it.

Home again, home again...

Good advice... I've never heard of Lithium Grease.

Sounds like you're not having a good "Tine".  (sorry, I couldn't help myself)

Hey, Ben. I hate to hear that but at least you have a creditable dealer that will repair the problem without charge. Thanks for the advice and I wish you all the best, Jim

Its hard to imagine that a fork was able to puncture that tire.
