My mother always said to me "What comes around, goes around" which in my adult life I have found to be SO TRUE. Especially when it comes to Anne Marie Malfi (AMM!) and this new (?) tag two people deal on AR.
Anne Marie Malfi sent me this "Why I love my Real Estate profession" I am pretty sure to get back @ me for the sending the Friendship Ball her way. Here goes....
Why I "love" my job as a Real Estate agent...Here's why I love it and what it brings to my life:
Hmmmmmmm.......selfish & obvious reasons first. I love being able to work when I want to & be my own boss. It's just that simple. I worked in corporate America for years & years. I was continuously under someone else's thumb who was under someone else's thumb who was under someone else's thumb. Now, I know you are thinking, "that's a TON of thumbs" but honestly, you know how corporate America works. I was told to follow "policies & procedures", don't use your own creativity, when to pee, when to eat & how much money I was going to make. I had a good job, made good money but just didn't feel satisfied with my work and was tired of working for the man!
I felt liberated when I left, able to do what I wanted to & not have to be in traffic at 7AM to fight the crowds. It was SCARY not having a regular paycheck but you figure it out. Find a way or make a way. No regrets here.
I love working with my sister. I love learning from her . I love going into the office, bouncing ideas off of each other, going to conventions together & learning all we can then applying it! I met a lady at one convention that said she was jealous that we get to work together and that we like each other. I am glad I have that with my sister. I like having the privilege of someone around you with more knowledge of Real Estate & willing to share it. Free of charge. Free is good. I like free. I would not be in Real Estate if it weren't for my sister and my father.
Our father was in Real Estate for 40 years. The day I was born he had left for Austin to take his broker's exam. He had to rush back home to see baby #2 being born. My father was and still is passionate about Real Estate. My father taught us what he knows about Real Estate and continues to teach us what he knows. My father started when the interest rates were 84%, seriously. Really about 18-20%... He has a ton of life (Real Estate) experience to share also, as the times change, they remain the same (at least some things). The Moran's bleed Real Estate much to our mother's dismay, where the conversation always goes. Now if you we can just get the little sister to join us......
I love helping people find their next home. I am a pleaser by nature so I want people to be HAPPY with their choice, feel good about it & comfortable that they made the right decision for themselves. I like looking at houses, I love getting ideas that others have with color, style & creativity. I like making people feel good, it gives me a sense of satisfaction and it challenges me to do more!
Real Estate has forced me to get out of my comfort zone! I still struggle with this one but I am getting more comfortable with it. I do believe I am better at networking, marketing myself & starting up chit-chat with strangers. I have met so many new & interesting people by being in Real Estate that I would have missed out on. Not a bad gig in my book.
