Everyone is always asking me why I live in Big Canoe. Well here are just a few reasons why my family and I live here full-time. Big Canoe is a gated community that offers so much going on. There's tennis, golf, squash, swimming pools, hiking trails, bocce & a club for everything under the sun. That's what I love most, is you can be as active as you like or just sit back and relax. I especially love the fall season in these parts. The Big Canoe Octoberfest is so much fun, everyone getting together at the playfield with music and beer and wine flowing. When I first moved here, I felt I was on vacation every day. The mixture of people who are young and old gives life and beauty to the community.
Having been raised in this area, it's rather ironic that I spent all my life running away from home and my roots. I quickly moved to the city but then started having kids and realized that what I had when I was growing up was what I wanted to offer to my children. As a kid I remember using my imagination. My best friend and I created play houses outside in the woods, often sweeping the dirt floors to show where each room was. It's this I remember and reflect most upon. Living in Big Canoe give us the ability to create memories as a family together. Just yesterday, my two boys who are scientist now, were out digging up our side yard looking for dino parts and fossils. I hope they continue to be active and using their imagination for the rest of their lives. I know you could argue that your kids can do this anywhere, but you just have to visit to see what I mean. We have a gated community with 24 Hour Security and if feels like home and I feel very safe!
So if you are looking for a home to buy, start looking now in Big Canoe! This is a great season to look at the area and to see the homes available. Make a day of it and tour a few homes, head to the Apple Orchards or just enjoy the beauty of the area. You won't regret it!
