My new cell phone......Somebody save me!

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker United East Texas Division

It was the time I had dreaded for almost 3 months.  I knew my cell phone contract was coming up for renewal and so I started researching which phone I would fall victim to.  LOL!  I've been with At and T for over 10 years and so they made me a deal I couldn't refuse....I ended up with a LG phone called the VU.

I feel sure that there must be a college level class that is being offered somewhere on how to make it work.  I think that AT and T has figured out that I will probably access the the web by accident at least 3 or 4 times a day and my cell bill should be huge this time next month.   I got on the web by mistake this afternoon and it took me 10 minutes to figure out how to get off.  Cha-ching.....Cha-ching!

You see...I didn't get it because I want to be able to read email from anywhere in the world.  I got it because I had been a good customer for over 10 years and they gave it to me for free.  In my real estate business if I'm with a client then I focus solely on the client and I don't answer my phone or check my email during the clients time with me.  Any emails or phone calls can wait until I get home or get 5 minutes away from them.  I haven't lost a client yet because they had to wait 45 minutes for me to get back with them.

Back to the problem at hand...I think I require the services of my ever trusty 15 year old daughter to teach me all about my new phone.  It's amazing that she doesn't have this type phone ...but yet can tell me anything about it that I need to know.  The one thing I want to get is a cool ring tone that is about a buying or selling real estate.  Any ideas?

Hi Barbara.  Without a doubt seek the help of the grand daughter.  I am sure she will save you tons of time!  They figure it out so quickly.  ALSO, free is good!  KM

As my mother used to say to my father when ever they bought something new and he couldn't figure out how it was supposed to work, "would you please read the manual?", and then they would ask one of us kids, LOL

Well ....I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one suffering from cell phone ignorance!  By the way I set my alarm on my phone to wake me this morning and it jarred me out of bed....I thought the highschool marching band had come into my bedroom !

In NO time at all you will be surfing the web and texting people...  Go for it.  Get the 15 year old on speed text and you will do great...

Ah yes!  The learning curve on a new phone.  That is probably the top reason people procrastinate against getting a new phone, and not doing so until they have no choice and the current one is totally shot!  Quite unlike my sons (20 year olds) who cant wait for a new phone, and keep trading in for the latest model!

Enterprising teenagers are probably no longer babysitting these days...they are hiring out to help the technology-challenged!  LOL  Cute pic.

My daughter taught her english teacher how to use her new phone!  She loaded everything in for her and then showed he how to text.  I'm pretty good at texting...and now I have the option of the regular keyboard so it goes a lot faster.  I want to learn how to use the bluetooth thing.....

Barbara - I had to laugh at the size of the manual for the last phone I purchased.  Like you, I took a quick tutorial with my son and then I was on my own!
