Denver Photo Journal - Week #3

Inspired by my goal of getting better at photography here are the week #3 shots. You will find pictures of all things Colorado including people, houses, objects, animals and anything that presents a photo op and turns into a great shot in this Denver Photo Journal.

These photos were taken near Chatfield Reservoir and Park in Littleton, Colorado. The photos are from a nearby trail ~Highline Canal Trail.

Photo Journal ~ Week 3

Trails Tell Tales

As we got to the trail, right in front of us was a bull that had escaped from the fenced area next to the trail. I was at the trail with our one-year-old in a jogger stroller and I was not sure how fast I was going to be able to run (the trail was very bumpy) if the bull decided to charge. As soon as we got close he turned and stared at us. Finally, after standing there for a few minutes, we passed him by going off the trail to the grass. He did not follow!

I used Picasa to "tweak" the photos below for different looks.

We also saw a snake warming up in the afternoon sun among the fallen leaves. Now, I am not a snake person, but hey, anything for a photo - I got close enough to take a shot.

Now, come on. I know you put that snake in there for me, so how come I had to come all the way over here to see it. Snakes should be in the Inspired By Nature group. LOL

I miss the cattle in Texas. I keep reading that there are cattle here in San Diego County, but after 15 years, I have yet to see one. Wait. I did see one a few years ago. It was painted on the side of an underpass. It was a Gateway cow. Hmmmmmmm. Now that I think about it, that underpass was right next to the Gateway building. Now I get it! LOL

Brian and Rita - I use picnik to edit photos but will check our picasa. It is amazing how changing the color changes the feel of the photo. The snake however, was scary. I wrote a blog recently about a snake in a tree at an open house (but it turned out it was not real) still scared me though - and it made me laugh!

That foliage shot is great! I like all the different effects, but it sure helps to start with a great photo! Thanks for sharing!

Russel - shoot I was supposed to post it on AR, and on inspired by nature - onto correct that...

Caren - that day was so nice and warm, didn't feel like October at all

Gita - it seems like every day I learn something new about picasa... and I'm sure there are still things I have no clue about

Sharon - I just remembered Picnik so I have to go play with it and see which works better

Your camera does take some very nice pictures.  How small is it; that's a HUGE requirement for this point and shoot for my daughter.  She just broke one of the lenses on her Canon taking it places it should not go.
