Mesa Arts Center Mesa Storytelling FestivalAll it takes is one.

One person who could tell stories in a way that could take you on a journey.

I'm fortunate to have met some very good story tellers. They've enhanced my life in ways that I could never convey. Storytelling is a gift and an art.... some might say a lost art.

If you'd like to hear some of the nation's best story tellers, you're in for a treat. Now in it's sixth year, Mesa's Storytelling Festival has officially begun.

It started today (Thursday October 22) and runs until Saturday. Concert tickets are $11 but Saturday's daytime events are free.

Details here: Mesa Arts Center Storytelling Festival

Featured Storytellers:

  • Sheila Kay Adams
  • Charlotte Blake-Alston
  • Donald Davis
  • Olga Loya
  • Sandy Oglesby
  • Antonio Sacre
  • Willy Claflin
  • Kala Jojo

The only kind of story telling I've been to was the library so my kids could listen. Those were wonderful times. So this is for adults? I think I'll check into this over here...I know they had poets.

This sounds like it could be a real fun time.  I love stories and love to tell them.

Saturday-

William- So do I... and, as you'll see in the next comment- there are classes for people like us.

Sean- Thank you so much for for publishing more information- it's always nice when the subjects of these posts pop in and add more content. Feel free to comment any time or to send me any other information about local events that you'd like me to help publicize.

There's nothing like a good storyteller, Chuck!  When I lived in Durango, CO there was an annual gathering of cowboy poets who would have me mesmerized with their stories.  Are you taking your daughters to this?

Kent- I wanted to go but ended up with a family emergency. I would have loved to attend. I've listened to many a good cowboy story and have even been to a "poetry slam"... it was less violent than it sounds. :-)
