Last Crop Of The Year

By
Real Estate Agent with BCR Realtors 262359

Farmers and Ranchers in and around Hearne, Texas recently began cutting the last hay crop for 2008.  The Hay business can be a lot like any other crop....... Supply and demand.  This year was a fairly good year for hay in the area but many ranches had hay left over from last year. So the price may be lower. And to top things off the fuel costs could have forced many hay cutters to charge more for cutting and baling a large round bail.

GREAT black and white photo Trey. I see these large hay bales rolled up all over this time of year.

It's that time... I too am seeing lots of hay and corn being harvested in our rural area.

Being a city gal, I find it so amazing that they can roll up hay like that!  It looks absolutely perfect.  The only crop they grow in my area of the world - is cement!

Thanks for stopping by. Black and white is so much easier with digital!

Now I can eat corn! Don't care too much for hay myself. ;)

Iam still amazed at how perfect they come out too. Cement is a little rough on my stomach. :)

It is lots of fun isn't it!

Trey,

Nice picture.  I sold all my horses in June 2007.  I have no idea what a square bale or round bale cost these days.  I'm sure like everything it has gone up.

Well... we will know how hay is doing real soon. Plenty of hay right now. I guess it depends on the winter grass. We are behind on rainfall.

Oh how I do love hay bales. Great shot. When my girls were little, we'd stop on the side of the road sometimes and let them run out and climb  up on one. It's a wonder we didn't get shot.
