Aloha and welcome to my blog.
Aloha, as many of you know, is our Hawaiian greeting. The word Aloha and how it is used in our modern world has several meanings.
Aloha: hello, welcome, good-bye, until we meet again, good morning, afternoon or evening, and even I love you.
The word, Aloha, has become synonymous with the spirit of the Hawaiian people. The "Aloha Spirit" of Hawaii is the spirit of welcome, caring and sharing.
In the "Aloha spirit" I will be sharing with you information about the island of Oahu, its people, culture, news, events and the real estate market.
The word Oahu has come to mean "The Gathering Place" which is most appropriate as it is the most populated of all the islands in the Hawaiian Island chain. Oahu the thrid largest island. It was created by two is approximately 44 miles long at its longest point and 30 miles at its widest with a shore line of 227 miles. The city of Honolulu is the state capital.
There are many communities and neighborhoods on our island besides famous Waikiki and Honolulu. A few have become well known in the past years such as the North Shore area while others are not so well known by mainlanders. Some of these are: Aiea, Ewa Beach, Hawaii Kai, Kailua, Kaneohe, Kapolei, Makakilo, Mililani, Pearl City, Wahiawa, Waikele, Waimanalo and Waipahu. As time goes by those of you on the mainland will become familiar with them all.
To islanders and mainlanders alike I would like to extend an invitation to participate in by blog. If there is something or an area you would like to know more about, or see featured in the blog, please contact me. I will do my best to fulfill your request.
Until next week....
