How Do You Stay Positive In This Market?

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker

WOW...we must be positive in this market so that we attract the positive in others.  At some point in every day we must ask ourselves, "Do I stay with this client or do I let them go"?  We hold Open Houses and get referrals which lead into several appointments.  Out of three appointments that I have, it turns out that only one is real because one person wants a $1.5 million dollar house for $1.0 million dollars and another person's job promotion is on hold indefinitely, so the move isn't going to occur and the Condo search is no longer a desire.  I'll bet each of you have some stories to tell with your experiences in this market.  How do you decide whether or not to stay with a client or let him/her go?  And, how do YOU stay positive?

It's hard to stay positive, but it's easy to emerge as the best agent in your area when the market comes back. I keep saying it. Do your research - video. Offer video tours that you film and edit yourself. It's so easy and you will kill the competition. Windows xp comes with movie maker. cameras are cheap. Offer this service and you will be number one in your market. Everyone says video is the future, but many agents seem to be clueless about how simple it is to do. I work for a free video site and I can't believe why many are so fearful of the technology.

search google on movie maker tutorials

Hey Jane,

Staying postive...it's not a huge issue for me. Yes, I'm a realist in most ways, yet I know I have the ability to work as many open houses (for example)  and I can. Even if I only have one person in that day, it's more than I would have if I didn't.

Sometimes you have to let a "would be" buyer go because they are simply not a "real buyer" . It happens. Someone else will come along.

Staying positive is easy.  I have more to my life than real estate.  We all haveto pick and choose our priorities and refocus our engergies.

One of the ways I stay positive is just by blogging here on active rain.  Learning new ideas helps keep me up, and in a positive mood.
