Microsoft Provides Critical Security Update For ALL Versions of Windows

According to a recent Microsoft Security Bulletin MS08-067 (with a rating of "Critical"), vulnerability in Windows' Server Service could allow Remote Code Execution (958644). 

It is considered so severe that it they have set up special, out of normal cycle, downloadable patches to help close this vulnerability for ALL current versions of MS Windows.

One thing I appreciate is that microsoft does try to patch holes. But the real problem is that these holes are typically discovered 3-6 months in advance before Microsoft even makes a move. It is also not because it takes time to fix it they just dont react quickly. Most security experts are constantly chiding them for moving slow.

Thanks Lawrence, I downloaded the update!  I appreciate the announcement.  In reference to what Shand said...I guess it's better late than never. 

I think my next computer will be an Apple.  MS seems slow to do anything, and I just keep hearing good things about Apple.  Apple may one day take the number 1 spot from Bill Gates.  Big companies tend to get too lax when at the top, then someone takes advantage and knocks them off the mountain.  It serves them right.
