Realtors/Brokers: Does it bug you when an inspector isn't licensed to provide a pest & dryrot report? There are many home inspectors who do inspections but aren't licensed to do a structural pest inspection. When it comes to getting a pest and dryrot (wood destroying organism) report, the inspector can't deliver because he or she isn't properly licensed. This is often the case when you hire an out of state home inspector to do an inspection in Washington State.

In Washington State, all home inspectors must be licensed as a structural pest inspector with the State of Washington, Dept. of Agriculture. You can quickly look up an inspector to see if he/she is licensed on the following website:

Advising your clients to do their homework before hiring a home inspector could make all the difference in a deal going smoothly or going south.
