Douglas, AZ, A Great Place to Live and Retire.
Douglas, Az is a great place to live and retire. As a newly returned resident, I am very excited to see the new construction and subdivisions in Douglas. But I am even more excited to see all the older homes being remodeled and renovated. Douglas was incorporated in 1905 with Phelps Dodge being the main source of income for most people. The old smelter is gone now, for several years, but many of the older homes remain in good condition. The Gadsden Hotel just celebrated its 100 year anniversary. The historic towns of Tombstone and Old Bisbee are only minutes away as are Sierra Vista and Fort Huachuca. And Old Mexico shares our southern border. The Border Patrol are very visible here. We have a new training facility just west of town. The weather is much nicer than Tucson or Phoenix. We are about 10 or 15 degrees cooler in the summer and even though it does get warm here, the evenings are cooler and of course, the traffic is almost a trickle. We have several nice parks, a whole block of churches, mentioned in the Guiness Book of World Records, and some of the friendliest people. Come for a visit anytime. We would love to see you.
