SEO Experts (& novices for that matter),
I'm looking for the pros and cons of having ones blog attached to or separate from their website. Can anybody provide feedback on whether its best to have a blog within my website or have an outside blog that links back to my website for improved SEO?

I dont know if this helps or not but if you go to my site I recently added 3 WP blogs. Each is for a different subject. Then I post things here as well. So far I get a lot of pull for the posts made to my site. I couldnt think of any other way to add content to my site. If you build up an outside blog it can work too but differently.
Depends on the outside website blog. If it's Active Rain - then I'd say the Rain works best as it is high in the search engines and if you link back to your site it will give you a boost. But having a blog on your own website - definitely makes adding content fast and easy. And search engines love content. So if you have enough info in your own website blog - that can help you have staying power with the search engines. So if it's a high ranked outside website - go for that. But you still need content on your website also.... so guess my answer it both! :)

Blogging is great for web site SEO. Linked to your site and as a seperate blog.
