Virginia's Changing Color...and it's Not Just the Autumn Leaves

I couldn't believe it when I saw it on CNN last night.  Virginia had been RED in all the years I can recall since I've been voting.  But in this race, CNN had Virginia as YELLOW (too close to call).  Exciting!  My state's in play...the phone is ringing off the hook.  I LOVE chaos!!!

But the ultra nasty robo-calls (a McCain "Maverick" special) have slowed.  What's up?  McCain running out of money?  I'm sure that robo-phone isn't a free service.  Ah-ha!  CNN now is showing Virginia as BLUE!  That explains the slowing of the robo-calls.

How exciting to be living in a State that is changing.  I'll believe that Virginia is blue when the ballots have been counted, but I will say, I have never seen so many people voting so early.  And word is that they are going for Obama.

I will be happy when this election is finally over!  Will we find out who's running for President in 2012 on November 5th?  (Please...nooooo).  This process seems to be starting earlier and earlier.

Chris Ann, I think Virginia has definitely moved into the Blue category and may not even be a battleground state this year. I am with you wanting this whole election to be done with. It does go on too long.

Chris Ann:  What fabulous news.  As I am sitting here, scanning the blog posts... of course I was looking for something exciting to write about.  And... here it is !  If only Virginia can stay blue... and be another state for Senator Obama.  What a great Tuesday night surprise that will be.  Please make sure everyone of your "Obama friends" gets out and votes.  The other ones... well... they can stay home.  Thanks for sharing.

And... hopefully another pleasant happening might be... that campaigning for 2012 just might wait for at least a couple of weeks.  There really ought to be some sort of Federal voting regulation that campaigns cannot formally start until January 1 of the year of the election.  Whew !

Gary:  I don't think it's necessary to have the elections drag on this long.  It seems to do nothing but start bad feelings when the campaigns go negative.

Karen:  It's like Christmas decorations.  Used to be in stores after Thanksgiving.  They are now out before Halloween.

....Didn't see that second commment in time.  Yes.  Federal regulation is a great idea.  But since it would have to be made by those that would hope to run for President, there is zero chance that will happen.  Just as likely as them not voting for a pay increase for themselves.

Duh. I thought you were talking about trees at first. How could red maples turn into yellow maples? I was very confused . . .

Too many Fall Color Contests going on at Active Rain, I guess.

A Great Real Estate Experience

I, too, am a Virginian and find this all very exciting!  Unfortunately, I live in 'fake' Virginia. It is interesting to see Northern Virginia and the 'rest' of Virginia compared and contrasted.  I am a life-long resident of Northern Virginia--as are many of my friends.  It is not nearly as transient as the press would lead you to believe. Many people move around within Northern VA.  My husand and I have owned 4 homes within a 5 mile radius of the first home we purchased 21 years ago. A lot of my clients move from one street to the next. I think it is just like many other states. The Metro areas have very different issues and concerns than the less urban areas. It just so happens that our largest Metro area is the Northern part of the State and seems to cause a natural divide.

From a business perspective, I think people might get 'off the fence' once the election is settled...at least I hope so.

Holly:  I'm a fake Virginia/fake American too.  Also, a lifelong resident of Northern VA.  Tuesday should be exciting.  And I think the fence sitters are already jumping off!  :)

When you see the electoral map on CNN compared to 2004- Wow! It looks like a whole different country! Your robo-calls have slowed because now they are blitzing Arizona with them (lol).

Leslie:  Enjoy!  Those robo calls really are about the lowest of the low.  I'm glad we aren't getting them anymore.
