What is deadlier for Marines, Iraq or motorcycles?

Sounds like a simple answer.  Kind of like the old saying that "you are more likely to die in a car crash than a plane crash."  Motorcycles are a great transportation method, especially with gas prices these days.  Like everything else, the savings come with a risk.  Below is a link to a good CNN article.  Please keep our troops in your thoughts and prayers, no matter where they are serving.

Marty,  This high number of Marine deaths from motorcycles is way too high.  We hear about these terrible accidents periodically with Marines from Camp Pendleton.  Speaking as a mother of a Marine, any number of Marine deaths is too many.

One death is too many.  It is also a Navy problem as well, I have been stationed at 9 different commands, in all 4 corners of this great country.  The weather may be different, the drivers may be different, but the results are always the same.

One of my great college friends had a terrible story of a motorcycle accident in his Army days.  Luckily he survived and was not badly injured - speed and rainy roads are never a good combination.

Motorcycles should all be banned and taken off the road but that is just my opinion.

Marty - The Marine Corps senior leaders will have their hands full with finding ways to keep Marine's from killing themselves on motorcycles.  I read this article some time ago and couldn't help but think of how I felt when I came back from Iraq.  You have this feeling that you're invincible. You have this need to get out and do things that you haven't had the chance to do for a long time.  It's a deadly combination.  The senior leaders will figure something out....and they will make it a priority.

Agree,

It is a huge problem that needs to be addressed not only by the senior leadership, but at the NCO level as well.  I'm not sure what the exact answer should be.  I'm not sure Gene's is realistic, but it is only his opinion and we all respect that. What do you guys think?
