top 10 things I have learned about the wilderness

This is my first blog. In two weeks I will be leaving the comforts of home for a 3 day back-country hike in Cesars Head State Park 30 miles outside of Greenville SC. The Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area is 11,000 acres of woodlands nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  We will hike 3 miles in and set up camp, no cell phones, IPODs, Blackberry's or computers. The trails we plan to hike will have many elevation changes and spectacular waterfall views,  one below is Raven Cliffs Falls, 400 ft.   This is a new adventure for me, (I'm a city girl at heart. ) They expect the weather to be as low as the 30's and as high as the 50's, and tell me to expect changes.  I have found that planning for such a trip is everything and can ultimately determine our comfort, safety, and well being. As I plan,  there are lessons I have learned that are the cornerstone of wilderness trips and can apply to the "Wild" Real Estate environment we live in now.

Top 10 " What I've learned about going to the wilderness"

 1. Have a great leader you can trust.  Psalm 20:7 Some trust in chariots, some trust in horses but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

 2. Know where you are going . Philippians 3:14 I  press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

3. Have a plan.   Proverbs 21:5 The plans of the diligent lead to profit just as  surely as haste leads to poverty.

4. Know where help is. Psalm 18:29 With your help I can advance against a troop, with my God I can scale a wall.

5. Bring only what you need. Matthew 6:8  do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

6. Have the right equipment.   Ephesians 6:13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

7. Work as a team. Ephesians 3:18 they may have the power together with all of the saints to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.

8. Keep your eyes open on the trail.  Psalm 119:148 My eyes stay open through the watches of the night that I may meditate on Your promises.

 9. Bring adequate covering. Psalm 18:35 You give me Your shield of victory and Your right hand sustains me; You stoop down to make me great.

10. Keep a positive attitude . Philippians 2:5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.

Make today great!

Christina, this is a wonderful post about how God supplies our needs in so many ways.  I am sure you will "hear" God on your trip; I think our ears are muffled in the day to day busyness we experience.  I will look forward to reading your post when you return; be sure to email me when you are back.  I envy your courage to do this!  At my age, I'm afraid a walk around the block is challenging!!
