Write a Blog, Write a Novel?

By
Real Estate Agent with Premier Florida Realty of SWFL

There's not a lot of time left, but there's an online novel marathon starting at midnight.  The requirement to win is to write a novel in the month of November.  It has to be 50,000 words completed by November 30th.    Each day, the participants update their word count.  The point is to encourage writers and would be writers to write.  Because of the time constraint, the point is definitely to write and not to think too much and edit.  The sponsor is NaNoWriMo. The link is:

Just a heads up for any of you bloggers who may have higher goals.  As to the end result of the November Novel Writing Marathon, who knows?

I love your doggies.  They are beautiful.  When I tell some of my real estate stories people always say I should write a book, but I gotta tell you ... it aint' gonna happen in November.  But I'll check this out and see what they might have in the future.  Thanks for the post.

Lloyd- Intriguing idea.  I just visited the NaNoWriMo site, and I can't deny that it sounds like a lot of fun.  However, I have trouble thinking up 50 words to write on my blog.  I can't imagine producing 50,000 words, in a month.  I bet, after the first 10,000, it's a breeze. ;-)

Lloyd thanks for this -- I had forgotten about NaNoWriMo!   I signed up for this several years back -- sorry to say I didn't get past about 500 words.  It's a great idea though isn't it?

I have a hard enough time thinking about what to blog, let alone 50,000 words., Interesting Idea, how many real estate agents can go into a presentation and say they are a published author on the subject of Real Estate, now that would be an impressive tool.

50,000 words in a month, huh? Hell, why not 100,000?

I don't want to look at the glass half empty but that sure seems like a bit much for me. LOL!

I'm still clicking the link, though.

Lloyd- Being an aspiring Hemingway myself I attempted this a few years ago. I wrote adamantly for about a week but decided to throw in the towel when my word count was only up to 1500! I have a great deal of respect for anyone who can make it to 50,000 in a month. This is no small feat. Perhaps when they start a NanowriCENTURY I will participate.

Oh my that sounds like a big challenge and one not easy to deal with and meet. All the best to whoever jumps into that one.

Yikes!  That's a lot of writing.  No doubt will be won by someone who isn't working a full time job!

The last time I wrote 50,000 words was for a thesis in college and it seemed to take forever. I admire people who can write a novel. I'll have to pass on this one. Thanks.

Tammy: the doggies are fun. That was taken at Lovers Key were they can run freely.Maybe your friends know something.

Rita: yea its a bit lengthy.Funny with the "I guess I will click on the link".

Marylin: Lots of funny people here. They say to just shoot from the hip and don't try to think to much (LOL).Just go for it.

Alex: Maybe it was that month when you had all these sales and listings.

Steven: that is a good question. The tough part would be to make the whole 175 pages on the subject of RE alluring.I suppose it could be done.

Lanette: its only 5.67 pages a day haha.If it was over 50,000 then it would fall into the quategory of cruel and unusual punishement. I know of this Belgium writer,Simenon, who used to write his detective series and any others in less then 2 weeks.Jack Kerouac's wrote "on the Road" in a very short time.On TP mind you. Then again he drank as much as a fish. I agree with you. 35,000 words makes mores sense.

Joshua: Hemingway, as you prob know, wrote about 500 to 1000 words a day.It didn't come easy to him.Well at least you gave it a shot. Maybe you have to make a living like most of us.

Bob: its possible. It does sound a bit ambitious. The other  tough part would be to juggle with your clients. Can't tell them" Escuse me, I can't show homes tomorrow morning! I am writing a novel." So.you are going to go for it?
