Last Saturday we took a short drive out to Long and Scott Farms to try our luck in the Corn Maze. This Central Florida tradition held in Zellwood each year includes a six acre live Corn Maze, half acre mini Corn Maze for the little ones, hay rides, farm tours, picnic area, 60' super slide, nature trail, play area, food vendors, farmer's market, fishing hole and so much more.
We went out with a group of friends and their kids, we split up into two teams and off we went. We found the "secret" exit in less than 20 minutes and were back in to complete the entire maze in just over an hour. It's a great way to spend time with family and friends without distractions... OK, I had my BlackBerry and was sending out messages, but we all had a good time.
My favorite moment of the day was when Cassy announced that she didn't see any corn, it stopped us dead in our tracks, she never realized that there were husks on the corn... Wow, these city kids sure live a sheltered life.
While wondering the fields we all agreed that there is no way that crop circles are created by people, it must be frustrated alien artists who create those masterpieces. We also had a contest to see who could come up with the best "corn" one liners. These were two of my favorites.
"Isn't this amazing?"
"I wonder if they have problems with STALKERS out here"
If you are looking to get out into the great outdoors and spend a little time away from it all, I highly recommend a trip out to Zellwood to Long and Scott Farms for some family fun.
The Long & Scott Corn Maze is open through November 30th, please click here for more information and directions.
