Don't Coast Now

Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Results 20344949

This time of the year can be a time where a lot of agents coast.  We are entering the holiday season soon and many agents find a reason not to work.  They all sound like good reasons, but the truth is that this is not the time of the year to coast.

THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO COAST AND THATS DOWNHILL. This is not the time to let your business slide downhill. Sure if you are in a SNOW state like mine (Minnesota); often the sales might not be as frequent. However, there are still things you can do to keep your momentum going these last couple months of the year.

Think about these things:

1) What prospecting you do now will turn into sales in the first couple months of 2009. This will help make 2009 great!

2) There are a lot of good deals out there.  Its a great time of the year for investors to buy a home. Find some investors. They will buy any time if the deal is right!

3) Get your 2009 Marketing Plan in place now.  This way things will flow systematically in '09!

I totally agree with many folks coast now...and then wonder why they are broke until March or April! Meanwhile, I've met with the customers they 'passed on'.

Good luck- and have a great week!

Coast????????  Don't know how your market is, but we are putting in 100 hours weeks to survive.  We will make it through, but coast....... I don't think so.

Actually, this is our prime market season as this is our prime relocation market.  It's 84 degrees winter has zero effect in Austin Texas......

Your're right on target Chuck, now is the time to plan for the new year.  One thing that is key in developing 2009 plans is to look in the rearview mirror to see where you've been.  I discussed this in a post last week which you can find HERE.

I agree.  Now is not the time to take it easy.  Keep on working.  In our winter climate, the buyers who are out looking during the holidays are, for the most part, serious buyers--even Christmas to New Years.

For the last 3 years my best month of business is December. I do not know why I guess it is because I am racing to set up listings and business for Spring time and Spring always comes early

SO true Chuck.  I am trying to spend 20 hours a week on buiding my business.....all the housekeeping I was too busy to do when the market was awesome.  The rest is on prospecting.  Hopefully, it will pay off some in 2008 and big in 2009!
