Boundary Waters Park and Aquatic Center, 5000 Ga Hwy 91/166
The ribbon was cut October 22nd at 9 a.m. for the opening of the new Cardio Fitness Center at the Boundary Waters Aquatic Center. The Cardio Center provides three state of the art treadmills, three elliptical trainers, three recumbent bikes, one to ten pound weights for cardio workouts, and yoga mats for stretching.
"We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to provide this program for the citizens of Douglas County. Without the Board of Commissioners support, we would be unable to do it," said Gary Dukes, Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department Director.
Cutting the ribbon and trying out the new equipment were Douglas County Commission Chairman Tom Worthan, Commissioner Mike Mulcare, Mr. Dukes, Parks and Recreation staff, and citizens. The Cardio Center will have staff on hand to assist with training and any other needs. The Cardio Center is open to adults over 18 years of age for a small fee that can be paid daily, monthly or yearly and can be combined with the pool fees for a discount. "We are encouraged that we can meet the needs of Douglas County citizens by offering programs that benefit all ages," stated Becky Young, Aquatics Superintendent.
Boundary Waters Aquatic Center and Park is located at 5000 Georgia Highway 92/166. The center can be contacted at 770.489.2175.
