Hats Off to those Poll Workers!

By
Real Estate Agent with Laura L. Bieker

I pulled into my polling place, VERY excited, ready to exercise my right to vote.  In this historical election, what a great opportunity to participate in one of our simple, yet very important, freedoms.

From the time I pulled in, to my registration, through my voting and my departure, I was greeted with smiles, thank you's, that all-important I Voted sticker, and happy workers.  You know they were there well before the polls opened at 6 AM, and there they will remain until well after they close this evening at 7 PM.  Yet there they were, smiling, greeting us, giving directions, and thanking us for being there.

THANK YOU, to those who campaigned, distributed flyers, helped register voters, and worked the polls.  No matter what party or candidate you were working for, you did a great job and made my experience easy and fun.

Thanks to the Poll Workers, I got out the vote today - DID YOU?

Great idea to thank them especially since so many people give them a hard time because of delays

They do deserve thanks.  I mean really, what is in it for them besides self-satisfaction?????

Laura, We are always treated to small town elections where I vote at the Grange Hall, I have never had to show my License the chief of police was there to shake my hand (even though he lost to me by several strokes at our last golf game) and I would have been out of the building in less than two minutes if I hadn't been curious about the Doughnut selection. Civic duty or social gathering either way it felt good to cast my ballot.

How true. What a thankless job! Seems no one recognizes them, going about their own business with little if anything to say to the folks facilitating the voting process. I made sure I thanked them for taking the time to make the process run so smoothly. Nice post!

The poll workers do a great job -  they kept the lines moving this morning in my home town.

Good afternoon ma'am, you woke up early and went to vote?  HMMMMMMM, very interesting.  Really, this is very kind of you to say thank you to the poll workers and you are so right they will be there late tonight I'm sure.

Gene - Too true.  Things went so smoothly this afternoon!  Thanks for the comment.

Scott - Thank you for your comment!  I'm glad you took the time to thank them, as well.  They are virtually giving up a day of their lives, plus their training time, to do something for the rest of us.  How selfless!

Steve - What a great story!  Which doughnut did you choose?  :)

Lewis - Exactly!  They gain nothing except the satisfaction of serving.  Thanks for the comment!

Dan - thanks for the complement.

Richard - I'm one of the first to fuss when I have to wait, so I realized I needed to praise them for doing a great job.  Thanks.

No, Mr. Rogers, I voted this afternoon!  Earlier there were lines, so I worked this morning, then voted, now I'm working again.  I was, however, up early as usual this morning......just like you were, I'm sure.

It is a thankless job. I have many friends that have done it or are working the polls and many people blame them if something goes wrong. You have to remember that they are people just like us and just want to help out. May God Bless the Poll workers.

Abi - You're right, we blame the workers when something goes wrong but not everyone thanks them for their service.  What a thankless job they have!  Thanks for commenting and enjoy the day.
