Voting Lines - A Missed Opportunity

Sure voting is patriotic and it's a great thing that this country is able to do, but blogging about your actual process of voting, is it worth it.  I'd hate to get all philisophical here, but really, is blogging about anything other than what the consumers care about worth our time.  How about sharing some ideas we could have done instead of blogging about voting.

  • Networking at the voting line - lines were much shorter than predicted, but they were still there.  Guess who's in the line... YOUR NEIGHBORS!
  • Passing out fliers or materials while in line - Wow! Who's that proactive agent taking advantage of all those people who have nothing better to do than read your flier over and over again.
  • Bring Promotional Products to your voting booth, blankets, chairs, umbrellas.  Again, most places had some lines even if they were short.
  • Be an undercover helper - you can't do this overtly, but you could hang out at the polls and talk to folks.  As long as it's not campaigning for a candidate your good.
  • Did you remember to wear your nametag? Got a few questions from folks because they thought I worked there!

These are just some of the ideas I'll be using in the NEXT 4 years, assuming that the sky doesn't fall.

I had the opportunity to vote and stood in line for about 4hrs in Marietta.  I must say, I did seize the moment.  I passed out about 40 business cards and pamphets and actually ran out.  I am looking forward to Dec 2nd.
