United We Stand! Making History!

By
Real Estate Agent with Raleigh Cary Realty

As a history major who graduated from the first public black college in the United States I have to say I am so proud of how much our country has grown in many ways!  Is the country really ready to set aside differences of culture and race and unite for the good of all?  I really hope and feel we have just witnessed a huge step in the healing process of the past.

After all, I got minority grant to go to a black public college because I was white that says something:)

One of these days we wont have to worry about quotas and everyone having a fair chance but no one ever said this world was perfect and no matter who you are today you should have hope that if you are willing to work hard and smart enough you can make it in the United States of America!!

We are still not perfect of course and there will always be people who do not like others who are different because of religion, race, sexual and political beliefs but hopefully we will learn to agree that is okay to be different.  Lets just work together and make this a better WORLD!

Our country has a lot of work ahead and I hope we are all ready to put aside our differences and make the sacrifices to make our country better and a place we are once again proud to be a part of!

I would like to think that people voted for Obama's ideals and not the color of his skin.  I'm not surprised we voted for a black man at all.  Hillary wouldn't shock me either.  What does shock me is that so many voted on gender or race alone and I think this is a faulty policy.

Randall: I have to agree. Where were all those voters in prior elections? We need people to vote in every election, not CERTAIN elections.

Randall -

That is definitely true in that gender & race should have no place in who you are voting for and the fact that it still does shows we have a lot more growing to do.  People on both sides came out to vote both for and against Obama because of race and gender.

I wonder how much of the new voters were because of the economy and not because of race?  I think if our economy and country were not in the shape they are in today we may have had the same apathy as in the past and that Obama would not be president elect.  However, the fact that so many white voters voted for Obama regardless of race is really the part of this I take solace in and gives me hope!

Race should never be an issue, however, I hope people didn't vote just because of race... This man studied for over 20 years under a minister that openly denounces America and hates America....  I'm not sure that he was the right Black to get into office, he is good looking and speaks wel but I belieiv it is all surface....  God Bless America and All of us... We need it, i believe socialism is on it's way a step backwards in time not progression...

George, I don't think the state of the economy had anything to do with this election with MANY newer voters.

People should be judged by their merits and not on their ethnic, racial or religious backgrounds.

Nice post George.

Well said.
