A proud day for America - Yes we can ... Yes we did.

Today is a proud day for America. We have a new president elect and have every reason to move forward with renewed energy, optimism and excitement. Change is happening.

We have the opportunity to restore America's status as a work leader and an inspiration to the world.

It's the responsibility of each and every once of us to reach out to each other and heal the divisiveness caused by the extended and hotly contested presidential campaigns.

Barack Obama delivered an inspiring and poignant speech last night, and John McCain, despite his obvious disappointment, gave a graceful concession speech.

It's time to move beyond party diffferences and allow the healing process begin. There is no place for further negativity. Instead we need to shift our minds and focus on positive energy.

Obama said it perfectly last night: "Let us summon a new spirit of patriotism; of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other."

I'm truly proud to be an American.

I'm with you on HOPE, Stewart.  But I'm taking a Regan-esque approach to it.  Trust, but verify.

Your comment about being as a WORK leader doesn't fit with this particular tax plan though.  I've looked at it and seemingly, a small business owner, like myself, has two options:

1. Keep things the way they are now BUT I will bring home less due to tax INCREASES.

2. Scale back on my buisness, make less, take home more and cut some of my staff.

We certainly shall see...

Trust but verify was critical for me. And Obama has never done anything that he said. Clinton never scared me; Obama scares me because he is a chameleon. Our economy is in greater danger now and as Biden said 2 weeks ago, there will be a crisis next year to test Obama and I hope and pray that not too many people die when the world tests Obama.

Cheryl - Renewed HOPE is what we so desperately need.

Ron - Thanks for sharing the HOPE.

Lonnie - One can look at the opportunity before us in two ways: with encouragement and positivity, or negativity and distrust. Why do you insist to dwell on the latter?

Last night, with both McCain and Obama seemed to me to have been our democracy at its best.

Stewart - This was a great moment in American history, and a great moment for the entire world.  But, as the dust settles from one massive barrier falling down, we see others standing strong.

I'm sorry to see the unfortunate news about Proposition 8 passing.  As we have taken a major step forward, the path that lies before us is a long one.  While we can celebrate today, we know that the electing of Barack Obama and Joe Biden is not the answer to the problem, but just the beginning to get us where we need to be.

Hope.  Renewal.  New Spirit.  New Energy.  New Focus. A can-do attitude with an olive branch.  A calm, cerebral leader with a laser vision of a better future.  Obama is the right man at the right time.

YES WE DID!  Stewart!  The sour grapes are already out there trying to rain on our parade by blaming liberal media bias and the financial meltdown, the fault of the republican administration, on the Obama victory.  Of course we know the truth and our elan cannot be dampered!  YES WE DID!

Hi Stewart! So exciting. I am so proud of this country. Now we all have to do is roll up our sleeves and be prepared to do even more. Oh we knew the sour grapes would behave this way. Some people are sore losers and none of us should let their negativity influence or upset us. Some of the Republicans on AR have written great posts that talk about supporting the president and moving forward. Now thats something we can all get behind. Yes we will!! :)

Stewart - How refreshing to have a President Elect who is intelligent, thoughtful and eager to make this country better! I feel a new sense of optimism that we can finally begin to unite this country from the division of the previous eight years.  My hope is that this chance is not wasted. Having been born during the Eisenhower Administration and suffering through the assination of one President and that of his brother and M.L.King, I thought I might never see this chance again.

Stacey-Ann - I agree - Both McCain and Obama were great last night.

Mike - It's an ongoing process. Eventually eequality will prevail, I just hope it's sonner rather than later.

Terry - YES WE DID ... YES WE CAN.

Pamela - I'm there with you, ready to roll up my sleeves and do whatever it takes.

John - It is going to be very different having an intelligent leader back in the White House.

Now is the time to come together as Americans and work as one. The non-punishment of Lieberman shows an amount civility and class that has been absent for many years. It is a good indication of how the Obama team will operate. The problems we face are more serious than the phoney wedge issues people have used to divide and stall American greatness.
