Yesterday my GM,  Ron McKnight,  I listed a property that I had been waiting to list for about 2 weeks. I had posted a comment on Margie Kaplan's blog about, "Can a sport you love be a marketing strategy? Tennis" Here is the link to that blog if you didn't read it. http://activerain.com/blogsview/73051/Can-a-sport-you

To recap my comment, my husband and I have been bowling on a league since last September and about a month ago one of our fellow leaguers found out that I was a Real Estate agent and spoke with me about listing her home. A week later I went on a listing appointment to her home and at then end of the appointment found out that she was also interviewing 2 other agents.  At that point I was very upset, I did a lot of research on her property before I went on the listing appointment, I pulled tax records and comps, I compared tax assessors values to the land between subject property and others around and so forth. This was a bit harder because it is a very rural area and not many of the families had ever moves, they had mostly been passed on down the generations. I asked the fellow leaguer if I could come back out with a partner before she interviewed the other agents, she had no problem and my GM and I went back out three nights later. We then waited a week before the phone call saying that we "won" the listing.  I was so excited, but trying not to show it, I was trying to stay professional. Another week goes by and no phone call to sign listing paperwork. This past Friday night at the bowling alley the seller asked if we could come out at 9 AM on Monday morning to sign the listing agreement.

Ron and I spent 2 1/2 hours at the home yesterday signing the agreement and taking pictures.  As we were leaving the property yesterday the seller looked at Ron, my GM, and said "You know why you guys got the listing right? Did Laurie tell you?" She told him that it was "Because of Laurie's Enthusiasm, about the house and listing it, the fact that she had done her homework and thoroughly researched the property before coming to meet with me, and because of your straight shooting. If I had a question you had an answer."  Well as you can probably imagine, my head swelled, I don't see Ron as just a partner in this transaction or my GM, but I also look at him as a sort of mentor. So I had to give myself a mental pat on the back for a job well done, my enthusiasm had paid off!!
