Realtor's newsletters, do they work?

I am interested in finding out if other Realtors are using newsletters as part of their marking efforts and if it is working for you.  How often do you send them out, who do you send them to..clients / prospect or both, use color or B & W.  Have you received listings or closing due to your letter.  Thanks

I send out a monthly e-newsletter to both. I can not pinpoint any direct business to it, but it is more for name recognition and position in their minds. I want to be the first person they think of when real estate is talked about. Those that are not on my email list get at least a postcard each month. If I get your contact info you will get something from me!

Hi Doug, I'm sending a newsletter once a month to my customers, past and present, and to prospects that I've had some form of contact with already.  My newsletter is a mix of real estate related articles and market updates, and what I call "frou frou" which can be a recipe, some local event, a good clean joke, a quote.... I change that around every month.  I always showcase one of my listings (nice for the seller to see...).  My people seem to like it, I get favorable comments and have gotten some good referrals from it.  So it's working for me. I send an e mail newsletter every month ( no pre made template or form) and it is a combination of market report, tips, good deals, events in the area, and I can only say that people like it and i get great comments on it. Did I get a listing or sale out of it? Maybe not, but I think it is a good way to stay in touch.

I also send out a unique, non-templated newsletter on Sothern Maine real estate each month. It is a great way to stay in touch. The key is to provide, non-boilerplate, real information that is useful to would be clients i fee.

Newsletters do work, but to be effective the reader must be engaged with the content. make them newsworthy and something interesting.

I think its a 50/50 You must target the same market over and over and not just once a month. I also know that with the RE market as it is ,it has slowed a bit lol.  It's important to also walk the neighborhoods or make yourself physically visible in some way.

They absolutely work! It's important to give them some real estate info, but more importantly, some fun stuff. Keep it short and sweet as people don't have much time. Check out http://www.enewslettersolutions.com

 

Also, add something personal so they get to know you as a real person.

Thank you for your post.  I have sent out some e-newsletters and have mailed hard copies of the newsletter to targeted contacts. I haven't associated any new business with this but I feel it's important to get my branding out there for some long-term results.

I send a monthly e-newsletter to all my prospects that are in my pipeline.  The Home Warranty company that I utilize the most, provides access to a monthly newsletter that can me customized with my contact information.  It is easy, fast and best of all 'FREE'!!!  And if you have an assistant who can do it for you - - all the BETTER!

I send out a Full Color Magazine Newsletter (monthly) to all my past and current clients.  I have access to a website where I can customize the inside front page and the back page of the magazine and they take care of the rest.  I emailed my database to the vendor when I initially got started and then I just send them new clients as needed.  The take care of all the mailing stuff.  I also have them ship me a bundle of the magazines that I have available for the public at my office.  Most of my clients have commented about receiving the magazine and they love it!!!  Once you select a neighborhood, no one else can piggyback.  The company is www.yourhomeandlifestyle.com.

Thanks for your input.  I was paying for a great newsletter, but I was not getting any response, so last month I decided to make one myself.  It was not to hard, but like you, I think I am going to use one of the warranty compaines newsletter.

 

I have been using Lowes program for awhile, but I can't seem to figure out how to make sure my info is set out on the email.  They send one out every day.  Do you use the Lowes program.  If not, let me know and I will tell you about it.  It has alot of other things other than the newsletter.

I do know about the Lowes program...it was highly promoted to all ERA agents.  I do use it, but I find the Home Warrenty e-newsletter to be very effective.

Also, YHL (Your Home and Lifestyle Magazine) is extremely affordable for what they produce. 

I'd be interested to know if you decide to use either one of these tools.
