I always knew women were dirtier than men....

I always knew women were dirtier than men because I always felt so dirty when my mother slapped me for being bad -- LOL. (This was back in the previous generation when parents could actually discipline their children - LOL again).

Apparently, as part of Global Handwashing Day in Great Britain --

Huh?
We have a Global Handwashing Day?
How come no one told me?
Oh.
It's the first annual Global Handwashing Day, held in Britain, and to be held on October 15 each year forever and ever.
Do we really want a Global Handwashing Day?
Do we want it to spread beyond Britain?

It seems that some British researchers got together and visited commuter train stations to swab the hands of commuters.

Hmmmm.
I can see it now: "Good morning. Would you mind if I swabbed your hand?"

Lab analysis indicated that almost one third of female hands had fecal bacteria on them versus only ten percent of men.

Hmmmm.
Isn't fecal bacteria from not washing one's hands after, uh, using the restroom?
Maybe these women had accompanied their husbands to the San Diego Chargers-New Orleans Saints football game at Wembley Stadium. LOL
Do men ever wash their hands at sports games?
Wouldn't the alcohol from the beer kill whatever might be on their hands?

Hmmm.  Maybe it's because we're the ones that get stuck wiping the little baby butts and cleaning the potties?

Who knows, but eeeeeew.

Jim - hilarious post.  How many of those people swabbed work in the food service industry?  AAARRRGGHHH

Nice title. :)

Dear Jim,

I must agree with Sheree. Baby's behinds are very "active" and there are not always hand-washing facilities handy. Remember that Daddy is not generally the one caring for the baby during the day. I know there are sink skippers, but I doubt they are mostly women. Thanks for the giggle.

:)

Hey Jim, thanks for giving me something to smile about for the first time since I voted!  A few years ago my teenage daughter, about 15, was constantly grossed out by her little brother (about 11) and what she perceived as his lack of proper handwashing techniques.  She posted a little sign on the back of the powder room door. Our family got a huge chuckle out of it and I left it there until we moved this past summer.  I hand carried it with me safely from Colorado to Idaho, where it lives on a new powder room door.  It became a legend as dozens (hundreds?) of my big family's friends and neighbors passed through that room.  Can I reblog your post, and share your story and my photo, with my blogging world?   Wash your hands so we don't die!

Jim, keep in mind the Brits don't use much soap. According to our medical society we should use soap and rub with soap to stop germs for 15 seconds. I constantly wash my hands.

Jim,  I thought they had bidets in Europe.  I don't think you're going to have to worry about a featured post with this subject.

BTW, men change diapers too.  I have three grown kids and I changed a diaper once.

Hey, Jim. It is sad that they need an "official" day to remind them to wash up. I have to say that I get so mad when I see people walk out of the restroom and they don't wash their hands. NASTY!! Have a great and free from bacteria weekend, Jim

Hello Jim, I just did a blog last week about staying healthy during the cold and flu season.  Soap and water are the key for at least 25 seconds............  Have a healthy season.

I think you are probably on to something with the idea that alcohol kills any bacteria that happens to get on mens hands...

Jim~ Your comments above are hilarious, especially Steven's!  More diseases are spread by the hands than any other thing!  The nurse in me really cringes when I notice someone that doesn't wash their hands. That is a big reason for the spread of germs etc. in the hospital because even the Doctors and Nurses don't wash their hands like they should or as often as they should!

The lab analysis really grossed me out.  I am always washing my hands, I don't think I have OCD. :)  I always wash as soon as I walk in the door to my home.  I don't want to bring in the germs from the day into my home.  If you think about all the doors we touch, it's can be pretty nasty.

Very informative and slightly disturbing post Jim!  It's hard for me to believe, because I see so many people using hand sanitizer these days.
