Don't be a Qwitter, Stick with Twitter

In case you are too lazy to watch the video above and just want to leave a comment below for your 25 points, here are the cliff notes. It seems that a lot of people open a Twitter and really struggle at the beginning. The problem is that new members aren’t following anyone and nobody is following them. Unless you love to talk to yourself, this isn’t going to be much fun and certainly isn’t going to be an effective marketing tool.

The key to Twitter is to get out and start following people right away. I don’t recommend that you start by following as many random people as possible. You should start by following people that are already in your network. Look for members of ActiveRain that inspire you and start to follow them. Once you have a good group of people that you are following, you will meet new people and want to follow them.

That is about it. Twitter is simple and that is one of the biggest reasons that it is so popular. If you like my video (or not) and want to follow me, I am @RyanRE

Thanks, Ryan for posting this info!  I've been on Twitter for a month or two now.  I know it will help my business, but it seems there is a lot of nonsense on there.

I also have trouble thinking what to say.....anyway, you can follow me: @DenverDecorator

Mike ~ That is funny. I think that most people feel that way in the beginning of Twitter.

Debbie ~ Did you attend the Denver Tweetup?

Debra ~ You are most welcome :)

Ryan - great video.  I avoided Twitter for a long time and finally joined about a week ago and love it-- son you could say the light went off.  Now I am learning the ins and outs - you are right--once you follow people, you can get a feel and see the benefit.

On a side note (hope you don't mind)--I like the quality of the video and want to know what kind of camera you use and do you feel that viddler is the best place to post.  I have finally been getting into video and am not always happy with my finished product.  I have been using Mixpo as I thought it was the best so don't know if it is the camcorder I use or my hosting.  Thanks.

hey Ryan sounds like Twitter makes for a bunch of followers? Is Twitter just more real estate technology nonsense or have you actually gotten leads from using it?

Cathy ~ It does take a while to figure Twitter out. Regarding the video quality, I don't use a camcorder. I just use my digital camera on the video setting. I do like Viddler's clean format, but I post my videos on other sites too.

Stephen ~ Twitter in not real estate technology. Twitter is another social network that works for a lot of businesses, including real estate if use properly.

Ryan - great video.  I would add that if you want more people to follow you than it is important to add good/interesting content and to participate in some of the conversations.

BTW- I am now one of your followers...

Tony ~ I wouldn't recommend spending too much time on Twitter, but it is definitely something to keep up with.

Kristin ~ I didn't go over how to add that logo. That is actually something that I created in Photoshop.

Phylis ~ I am happy to hear that you found the right address.

Thanks for the info Ryan..nice job with the video and encouraging people to become more active on Twitter. CNN mentioned it recently as a great communication tool. That was what spurred me on to sign up. Now you've inspired me to start using it.
