Window Cleaning----Its that time again!

Yep once again its time to get those windows up to par shining bright and the phone in the office has been ringing like crazy, not that I am complaining. I thought this year I would write a little blog for those who whould like to give a whirl at doing it themselves, being that it is pretty easy just takes some time. If not you can give us a call any time to set up an appointment at 866-904-3133.

Before cleaning windows, have the proper equipment. The best window cleaning solution is water and Dawn dishwashing detergent. Use a house broom to remove cobwebs and dry soil. On a utility belt put the applicator, squeegee, and a microfiber cloth and a cotton cloth for touching up frames. Scraping blades are also important, including a plastic scraper, a razor, and a utility blade. Always use blades that are sharp on wet windows. Have a step-ladder and #0000 steel wool for cleaning bug poop and other dried items.

There are three ways of cleaning windows: side-to-side, top-to-bottom, and the Super Swirl where the squeegee does not leave the glass. In all methods, begin with a critical dry edge on the top and left sides. After using the squeegee, dry the frame and edges with a dry towel to finish the look of the window.

It sounds easier to call up my window cleaner and get him on the schedule....I'd fall off the ladder getting the utility knife out of my belt, and break some bones, and cut myself on the way down!

Great timing on this tip, Mitch! As I was coming home from walking Sundance this afternoon, I noticed my windows could really use a good cleaning to let some of the winter sunshine in. Normally I've used vinegar and water, but this time I'll give Dawn a try.
