Confessions of a Newbie/Slacker

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/Max Defined

First, the truth: I joined active rain a bunch of whiles ago but did not do anything with it. I admit I am an AR slacker.

When I first joined AR, I quickly set up the minimums in my profile, eagerly scanned the site and promptly took an exit, stage left, in a hurry. It looked complicated and not a little time consuming. However, the potential benefits of actually using AR keep nagging me; so today is the day.

I have been in the business for over 23 years which means I risk smelling like mothballs if I'm not careful. I have an outside blog, a social network and a great referral base and every single one of them need improving. I'm on a learning quest, that's why I'm here.

While I'm coming clean...I have to admit that while I appreciate the enthusiasm of everyone else, this is downright painful for me. I do not like learning curves. All the tutorials, manuals, videos and hyperlinks leave me, well...hyperventilating but the last time I checked we still can't hire someone else to learn for us.

Personally, I'm a feeler and right at this moment I'm feeling like I've been dropped in the middle of Tunisia and I don't speak the language. Funny, the feeling is really familiar. Oh wait...it's the same one I have every single morning when I wake up in this crazy market.

Thank you for your time, effort and willingness to share your knowledge and expertise all ye peoples of Active Rain. Ok, enough of my drivel, I'm biting down hard on a bullet and tackling the tutorials. Gwen

Hello Gwen,

Welcome aboard.  Just take it one step at a time and just know that everything is relative.  I feel just like you do and I know exactly how you feel.  It is hard when you see the blogs written by others that make it look so easy.  That is OK.  You will always have company.  Just jump in and get your feet wet.
