On November 11 we will all celebrate Veterans Day. For some of us we will wake up and go through our day like any other. Some people will put more thought into their Valentines card they will send than the thought that a day has been created to pay honor for the many life's lost and the many sacrifice's made. I saw on television this morning where the owner of the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas wanted to in some way say thank you. He wanted to in some way give back. He decided with the help of this agency to have Vets and their families flown to Vegas on his personal jet and they stayed at the Venetian for 5 days, all expenses paid. The thing that truly struck me about this story was one of the Veterans who had been hit by a road side bomb and had been left missing a leg, deaf in one ear and multiple scars. He was there with his wife. He said he was so appreciative for the opportunity to be given this trip but, he could help but think of all the guys ( his friends) that were still over there so he could be on this trip. I was blown away.
I know myself as a Realtor in this ever changing economy will not be flying myself anywhere much less someone else! But, on this Veterans Day I am sure each of us will have some sort of opportunity to attend a parade or some type of memorial to honor the men and women who have fought and died so that we have the freedom to sit down at our little computers and chat with one another on Active Rain or be with our families or sale real estate or what ever we may choose.
With this I mind I ask all members of Active Rain to take the time in your own special way to say a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to anyone you know who has been touched by a Veteran either past or present or future........
