“Veterans Day - Dedicated to the cause of world peace”

November 11 is the day we have set aside to honor our Veterans especially honoring their duty and sacrifice. Originally called Armistice Day, November 11 was set aside to honor Veterans in 1938 because it was the day of the end of WWI - November 11, 1918. I learned this and more at a wonderful website www.Military.com. I would encourage you and your family to visit the website.

I also learned of ways to teach my children about Veterans Day. A couple of my favorite ideas was to encourage your children to interview the Veterans in your family and your group of friends. This way, children can learn first hand what these friends and family members did to serve their country. The second idea was to have your children make thank you cards for the Veterans they know. What a wonderful idea - fun, personal and so meaningful.

Our Veterans deserve our thanks and our honor of their personal sacrifices. Take the time to tell them how much you appreciate them. If you have a way to celebrate Veterans Day and the Veterans you know, please take the time to use the comments feature to let me know.
