Record Web Hits so far this month - with a catch...

I noticed a serious spike in web traffic at my website www.stagecoachtexas.com recently.  One reason is thanks to one of my blog posts being featured for on Oct 30th by Active Rain, "ActiveRain Cracks Down on Plagiarism and Violations of Copyright Laws".

Strangely, the most traffic I am receiving is from people looking for Charter Buses.  I can only imagine this is some how linked to the Stagecoach charter bus line in Europe.  But it appears that Google has me listed as a bus company, even though nothing in my Google account listing states this.

If I only look at the month of November, so far, I have twice as many Bus searches landing on my website than I do local stager searches.  The good thing (I think) is these visitors are spending several minutes, looking at an average of five pages.  So they must be interested in what they see.

The worst part, is that even though I am looking at a stellar fourth quarter of visits, the visits are not translating into inquiries or proposals.  In the long term, it seems I need to make some changes to make the most visited pages more appealing and try to entice visitors to make contact.  Short term, I think I will track the Bus searches for the rest of the year... for curiosity.

Hey Michael, hits are good. The fact that they are spending time looking at several pages is awesome.  They will probably come back a few times before they inquire or maybe they will book mark you for when they need you.  Being seen is always a good thing.

It seems to me that the hits you are receiving are not really true hits because these people are getting onto your site looking for a bus to Charter.  I think it would be hard to convert any of these people into inquiries or proposals because these people are not looking for a staging professional.

Hits are always good for name exposure etc, but if the people are looking for a bis to charter and you don't have that... these people probably aren't going to translate into sales. By the way, how many hits are we talking about here and how many unique visitors?

hi, Tanya/Troy/Sandy:

Thanks for stopping!  I have been meaning to get back here and update this blog, so I am gald it was bumped...

You are correct - these Charter bus searchers are not looking for a Staging professional.  But I was pointing out at the time that they are going to my index page and spending 5 minutes on several pages.  I suppose it's possible they thought they would find more information about Charter bus services some where else on my web page... I mean, People come in all types and flavors, so one can not assume they realized they were in the wrong place when the entered the first page...

In November, there were 38 unique visits linking directly from Google searches for Charter bus services in Austin.  They averaged 3.8 pages per visit.  I did wind up with significantly more visits from home staging searches, especially over Thanksgiving.  November was my first month ever with over 1000 page views when you exclude the search engine robots!

While I admit that it is not likely to convert the charter bus views to sales at this juncture I will take the visits!  The only bad publicity is no publicity...Like Tanya said, may be they will bookmark or remember me.

That's like when I receive hits to my blog posts about 'absorption rates' from people looking to find the best paper towels...it happens about once a month.  A hit is a hit.

Hits are always good. Maybe the people looking were looking for a bus company but maybe after getting to your website they will remember a friend/family member who is looking for a house and pass on your info. Best of luck
