  •  To create drama and dress up any room, consider adding touches of black. It works in virtually any color scheme and with any decorating style.
  • If you are going for major drama, inject even larger doses of this dynamic color in your window treatments, upholstered furniture, bedding, flooring or floor coverings, decorative wall moldings, shelving, cabinets, or your wooden furniture pieces.
  •  Lime green, white, orange, red,  yellow and aqua all pop when positioned on or near black pieces.
  •  Paint artwork frames, mirrors, or add black painted pinstripes.  Decorative boxes hung on the wall or open shelving to hold accessories in black are striking.
  •  Paint the legs of a coffee table or dining table black -leaving the top in a wood tone. To give painted black objects an aged worn look; sand the edges, details, around handles and legs, or anywhere that might have natural wear.
  •  IT IS BACK!

Kathleen - I could not agree more...I always infuse lack in everything!  Love it, love it !  Did it even ever go out?...LOL....not in my book.

You are so right! I love black for the very reasons you mentioned. We once had a pastor's wife who always identified black as her favorite color. Besides rooms many people look good in black. What color are you flamingos now? Just wondering.

Don't feel too bad. This summer I will be complaining about the red flamingos with sun burns! Not yet. The weather is fantastic here now. Again today I will be doing some of my work on the patio. We call it our second living room. Till July and August.

Nice shot of your daughter. I love Ikea. Too bad we don't live closer we could shop together.

Black can be very chic. It is sophisticated in home decor and slimming when worn!

I'm a big fan of black infused with bright colors!  My black has always been brown so I think I'll set over to the dark(er) side with my new bathroom.

Ikea-ah, the memories of other cities that have it...

Hey, you changed your photo and profile a bit. At first I didn't recognise you! My husband is always telling me to where more colors but I just love black. He still argues that "Black is so 90's". :)

My daughter likes to play with the photos so I decided to put this one in she did & then I changed hers too.  I get bored easily.

Tell him "black is back to stay",

"Back in Black" is one of my favorite albums...I do like to rock out.

Have you seen the new Crate & Barrel catalog? They have some pages devoted to black & white...the photos are gorgeous and when I turned to those pages in the catalog, it took my breath away. There is one page that features a black chest of drawers and over it is an arrangement of mirrors that is absolutely striking. There's also a black crystal lamp...not one I'd use in a staging project necessarily, but I might just pick it up myself...that lamp is dramatic.

Now that black is "in" again, it will just make it easier to find what we're after!
