veteran's day

TODAY IS VETERAN'S DAY!

It is a day to remember all of the men and women who now serve our country and make sacrifices so that we can remain free!

Verteran's Day is a day to thank all of the men and woman who have died, become wounded or disabled.

 memorial

My broker's son, Tim, is now on his fourth tour of duty in Iraq.   For the past 4 years, he has been home for only 3-4 months and has spent Thanksgiving and Christmas in Iraq, far away from his family.

His wife and children have scarified as well.  Tim is one of many veterans who has repeatedly volunteered to spend time in Iraq to keep the the peace and to ensure our freedom at home!

To Tim and his family, and all of the families who have given so much, we pray for a speedy return and for peace in the world!   We thank you and your families for sacrificing so much.

It cannot be denied that although we can become passionate during the election process, once the election is over, our great country comes together.

One of the hallmarks of our great democracy is the transition of power from the out-going President to the President elect as we witnessed yesterday when President Bush welcomed President elect Obama.

America is not perfect, but it is the greatest democracy in the world and for this we say THANKS today.

If you have not done so, please consider making a contribution to one of the Veteran organizations today!

THANK YOU TO ALL OUR VETERANS AND GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

Thanks!  Very nice.

My grandfather just passed.  He fought the Japanese in World War II.  His stories were tremendous.

Joan, I served in the Navy during Vietnam and I am glad to see that the attitude of the County is different today from what it was then.  I am sure that Tim will receive the type of welcome when he returns that should be given to all that have put their life on the line for this Country.

Carole~  Thanks for your good wishes for tim.  I know it means so much to the Veterans to be remembered.

George~  A special thank you to you!  I think we learned a good lesson from Viet Nam and that is no matter how we feel about a given war, we must show support and appreciation to you and others who have fought to make us safe.

JOAN, Wow 4 tours!!  We are so blessed to have so many who serve our country. Freedom is not free!

Our son is in the middle of his second tour.  He is home right now for his 3 weeks of R & R.  He was actually supposed to get out of the Army in August but got the stop/loss.  He will get out of Iraq in March and out of the Army in June.  I took it like a Mom but he took it like a soldier.

Joan ~ We are looking forward to finding the best way to end the war in Iraq.  I think Obama will be on top of this issue sooner than later.  YES, I am going to the retreat!  See you there.  I skipped the John and Jeff show this evening!

Joan, I am so thankful for our troops.  I don't think they know how much we appreciate them and all they have done and continue to do.

Jen~  I appreciate your thoughts.  I think you are correct that the troups don't know how much we appreciate them.  I also thank their families -- especially their wives and children for getting by when their loved ones are far away.

I can only imagine Joan.  I am a Vietnam Vet but and I feel nothing but empathy for these young people and their families.  The sacrifice is so great and the rewards and thank yous are so little.  They deserve so much more...if we only knew.  Your post was wonderful Joan.
